A BRIEF HISTORY

Situated at a very convenient historical place well-connected by roadways and waterways on Barrack Road, in between Barrackpore Railway Station and Army Base Hospital, Bholananda National Vidyalaya is a Senior Secondary Co-Educational composite school from Class I to XII, English Medium, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (School No. 15557).   

   The School was founded by Late Swami Jyotirmoyananda Giri Maharaj, Secretary of Sree Guru Bholananda Ashram, Monirampore, Barrackpore, West Bengal in the year 1978.

   It caters to the educational needs of the students of all sections of the Society irrespective of caste, creed, race, religion and language in general and that of the floating population in particular. It is an alternative educational institution, fulfilling especially the educational needs of the migratory population of students whose parents are employed in Central Govt. and suffer frequent transfer.

   The school is an ideal institution serving the educational needs of the students from every part of the country stationed at Barrackpore and its adjoining areas and districts and also in the metropolitan city of Kolkata. The school has in its credit, a record of providing
eminent scholars in different fields of education viz. Avishek Sahani, Recognised Doctor of AIIMS, New Delhi, Satarupa Dey, Topper of Eastern Region secured 98.2% marks in AISSCE 2014 in West Bengal. In the year 2015-16 Poulami Chakraborty secured 94.6% marks in
AISSCE and ranked 158 in all India KVPY examination and she is getting Rs. 80000/- scholarship per annum for pursuing her career. Danish Javed topped in West Bengal JEE and ranked 69 in all India Joint Entrance Exam, Kamlesh Sahoo secured 96% in AISSCE and pursuing his career at IIT, Dhanbad, Ronit Chatterjee secured 98% marks in AISSCE and becomes an Engineer of repute, Debarati Mitra, recognised Engineer at Cognizant Technologies and renowned Guitarist, Playback musician in a movie (Chalantika), Rupayan Ghosh is a Researcher at Virginia University. Many more students who are there are successfully placed in well-reputed organisations.

   In order to cope up with the growing demands of admission, the institution has developed a well structured expansion plan.

   Bholananda National Vidyalaya has classes from I to XII and also a KG section. With well-equipped laboratories and competent faculty, the Vidyalaya has Science, Commerce as well as Arts stream.

   Those students who are deprived of acquiring higher education due to financial constraints, lack of time or for some other reason, are eligible to appear for Class X and XII examination through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) as this school is an accredited institution under the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

   The Institution aims to achieve an all-round development of personality of the students .
